Leolia Jeanjean continues her amazing journey at Roland Garros and offers herself a feat: the 227th player in the world eliminated Thursday, the Czech Karolina Pliskova, the eighth in the world, 6-2, 6-2, and gets her ticket to the third round.

The beneficiary of an invitation, the Frenchwoman, former hope of the tricolor tennis, participates at 26 years old in his first Grand Slam.

To clinch her place in the 8th final, she will face either the Russian under the neutral banner Ekaterina Alexandrova (31st) or the Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu (63rd).

She joins in the 3rd round her compatriot Diane Parry, who fell to the defending champion Barbora Krejcikova in the first round and victorious Wednesday to the Colombian Camila Osorio.

Two other French women, Alize Cornet and Caroline Garcia can imitate them on Thursday.

Pliskova is the 6th member of the women’s top-10 who will not see the 3rd round Porte d’Auteuil, after the early eliminations of Maria Sakkari, 3rd in the world and semi-finalist in Paris last year, Barbora Krejcikova (No. 2 and title holder), Anett Kontaveit (No. 5), Ons Jabeur (No. 6) and Garbine Muguruza (No. 10).

Faced with a Pliskova, obviously not at best, Jeanjean imposed himself with authority. She won the first set in just 36 minutes against a Czech who broke down on serve (62% first ball, 4 double faults) and made many mistakes (15 direct fouls).

The Frenchwoman broke in the wake of the second set, leading quickly 4-0, before winning on her first ball of the match after 1 hour 15 minutes of play.

“I don’t realize too much.”

“I don’t really realize what’s going on. I just think it’s amazing,” Jeanjean said, smiling on the court just after his victory.

“I’m already happy to be here and to be able to play,” added the Frenchwoman, who spent several years away from the courts.

Already considered a future star at 12, Jeanjean had then seen his career brutally stopped by injuries, including a triple dislocation of the kneecap.

She then went to study in the United States, not returning to high-level tennis until the end of 2020.

Playing on the secondary circuit, she won her first ITF title in April in Calvi after a good start to the season (27 wins for nine losses).

“I wanted to come back so I wouldn’t regret anything. I think I made the right choice,” said the Frenchwoman.

Another Blue had somewhat manhandled Pliskova in the first round, Tessah Andrianjafitrimo, 141st in the world, who had stolen around.

The Czech, a finalist at the last Wimbledon and the 2016 U.S. Open, had to give up her start to the season and the Australian Open due to a right forearm injury.
