While there are no titles on the line at Bellator 293, two fights could determine which competitors will compete for gold in the future.

Marcelo Gollum and Danielle James take on Cat Zingano in a heavyweight bout against Leah McCourt in a featherweight showdown at the Pechanga Resort and Casino Theater in California on March 31st.

Golem, the fifth-ranked Bellator heavyweight, turned pro in 2015. With a 1-3 record in the UFC, he has since won four straight, including two at Bellator. The 30-year-old last fought in July, defeating Dabion Franklin by submission.

James, 41, turned pro in 2014 and competed in Bellator. He would not fight for the organization again until his last fight in November when he defeated Tyrell Fortune via TKO. James is on a four-game hitting streak, all by knockout.

Zingano is a former Ring of Fire bantamweight and flyweight champion, with wins over the likes of Raquel Pennington, Miesha Tate and Amanda Nunes. However, she lost the UFC bantamweight title to Ronda Rousey in 2015 in just 14 seconds. Since that blowout, Zingano has gone 4-3 and is on a three-game hitting streak with Bellator.

With a win, Zingano hopes to meet Bellator featherweight champion Cris Cyborg, who insists Zingano take care of her. The two verbally went back and forth, with Zingano requesting independent drug tests for both in case of a fallout.

Standing in his way is McCourt, who is trying to become a competitor himself. Ranked eighth at featherweight (Zingano is number one), McCourt is 6-1 in his last two fights and 1-1 at Bellator. Fighting primarily in Dublin, McCourt last defeated Dana Silva in September.
